THE AMES TRIBUNE, Ames, Story County, Iowa, Tuesday, January 6, 2009.

April 19, 1948-Jan. 3, 2008

Dennis Lee Coffman, 60, of Story City, died Saturday, Jan. 3, 2009, at Israel Family Hospice House in Ames. Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 7, at Elim Lutheran Church in Randall. Burial will follow with military honors in the Story City Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 6, at Elim Lutheran Church in Randall.

Dennis Lee Coffman was born April 19, 1948, in Jewell, to Leonard and Wilma (Duden) Coffman. He married Anne Giles Sept. 26, 1970. Dennis chose a career in the U.S. Army and Iowa National Guard. He attained the rank of Staff Sergeant E6. Dennis was a member of Elim Lutheran Church. Studying World War I and World War II were his passion along with antiques, hunting, traveling and camping. He very much enjoyed spending time with his family.

Dennis is survived by his wife, Anne Coffman, of Story City; his parents, Leonard and Wilma Coffman; three daughters, Lisa (Jason) Thorn, of Ankeny, Lori (Guy) Johnston, of Story City, and Leanne (Kalen) Lewis, of McCallsburg; one son, Brett Coffman, of Ames; two sisters, Sandra Cinkle and Gloria Sharer; and five grandchildren, Justin, Braeden, Kelsey, Evan and Carter.

Memorials may be designated to pancreatic cancer research or Israel Family Hospice House.

Soderstrum Funeral Home in Story City has been entrusted with the arrangements.
