Alton Carsrud, 67, of Nevada, died on Tuesday, Dec. 16, 2008, at Mary Greeley Medical Center in Ames. Funeral services are pending with Chet Ryan Mortuary in Nevada.

Alton B. Carsrud, 67, of rural Nevada, died on Tuesday, Dec. 16, 2008, at Mary Greeley Medical Center in Ames. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Dec. 20, at Memorial Lutheran Church, 701 11th St. in Nevada, with Pastor David Burling officiating. Private family burial will be in Nevada Municipal Cemetery.

Alton was born on May 25, 1941 in Nevada to Martin and Myrtillie "Ted" (Dahl) Carsrud. He was a 1959 graduate of Nevada High School. On Nov. 5, 1961, he married DeLories "De" Olinger at Memorial Lutheran Church in Nevada.

He was a farmer and a member of Memorial Lutheran Church. He loved spending time with his grandchildren, playing golf and building things in his shed.

He is survived by his wife, De Carsrud, of rural Nevada; two daughters, Christine (Wayne) McNair, of LaGrange, Ga., and Cathleen (Mike Swanson) Carsrud, of Nevada; one son, Charles (Jamie) Carsrud, of Cambridge; two grandsons, James and William Carsrud; one stepgranddaughter, Sertira McNair; one brother, Donn (Joan) Carsrud, of Fort Myers, Fla.; and one sister, Kay Rierson, of Nevada.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his mother-in-law, Helen Olinger on Dec. 19, 2007; one brother-in-law, Loren Rierson; and two nephews Matthew Rierson and Wade Pauley.

Visitation will be Friday, Dec. 19, with the family present from 4 to 6 p.m. at Memorial Lutheran Church.

A memorial fund has been established in Alton's name.

Chet Ryan Mortuary and Cremation Services is in charge of arrangements.
