THE AMES TRIBUNE, Ames, Story County, Iowa, Wednesday, December 3, 2008.

Rogene Lehman, 73, of Alleman, died Monday, Dec. 1, 2008, at her home. A memorial service will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 6, at Salem United Church of Christ in Alleman, with visitation from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday, Dec. 5, at the church.

Soderstrum-Riis Funeral Home of Slater is assisting the family with the arrangements.

Rogene Lehman, 73, of Alleman, died Monday, Dec. 1, 2008, at home with family at her side. She had battled cancer for more than five years. Memorial services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 6, at Salem United Church of Christ in Alleman. The family will receive visitors from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday, Dec. 5, at the church.

Rogene was born June 28, 1935, in Ogle County, Ill., to Roy and Lydia Hagemann. At 17, Rogene met Willard Lehman, and they married in 1955. Together they raised two girls, Leanne (Gary Howard) and Shari Lehman. They were blessed with two grandchildren, Matthew and Jenna Howard.

Rogene helped Willard with farming and worked as a bookkeeper for several local businesses. She retired from her job as a receptionist at CCO in Ankeny in 2005. She participated for many years in Polk County Farm Bureau Women's organization. She was a longtime active member of Salem United Church of Christ in Alleman, participating in and serving in many different capacities.

She is survived by her husband, Willard; two daughters, Leanne (Gary) and Shari; two grandchildren, Matthew and Jenna Howard; and many extended family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Roy and Lydia Hagemann; many aunts and uncles; two brothers-in-law; and one sister-in-law.

She will be lovingly remembered as a very supportive, caring, compassionate, giving and fun-loving person by all who knew her.

Memorials can be given to Salem United Church of Christ, Iowa Health Home Hospice and Madrid Homes.

Soderstrum-Riis Funeral Home of Slater is assisting the family with arrangements.
