THE AMES TRIBUNE, Ames, Story County, Iowa, Thursday, December 4, 2008.

Nov. 2, 1960-Nov. 30, 2008

Brad Dwayne Erickson, 48, died Sunday, Nov. 30, 2008, at his home in Jewell. Funeral service will be at 1 p.m. Friday, Dec. 5, at Bethesda Lutheran Church in Jewell, where Brad was baptized and confirmed. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 4, at the church.

Brad was born Nov. 2, 1960, in Story City, to Palmer and Marilyn (Weih) Erickson. He attended South Hamilton Community School and graduated in 1979. He married Jennifer Quam in 1989; they were later divorced. He worked in the family business and several other jobs. He was a member of the Jewell Walleye Club.

He had a wonderful sense of humor and very kind heart. He was loved by his parents and five siblings, Sherri (Doug) Hove, of Jewell, Joel (Shelley Armstrong) Erickson, of Ellsworth, Wendy (Peter) Gay, of Rochester, Minn., Rachel (Erik) Hammer, of Greeley, Colo., and Kent (Joyce) Erickson, of Jewell, and their families. He had an especially soft spot in his heart for all his nieces and nephews who pretended to tolerate, but secretly enjoyed his kind-hearted teasing and irreverent sense of humor. He also was loved by many aunts and uncles and cousins. Although not a politician, he had a friend in every town within a three-state region. His family and friends all appreciated hiss unique brand of humor and kind heart.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Palmer and Nora (Hoversten) Erickson and Ralph and Elvera (Meyer) Weih; a niece, Nora Gay; and cousins, Gregory Olson and Thomas Isebrands.

Memorials may be given for Bethesda Lutheran Church in Jewell.
