Deb Tschopp, 54, died Tuesday, Nov. 18, 2008, at Marshalltown Medical and Surgical Center. A memorial service was at 10 a.m. Monday, Nov. 24, at Iowa Veterans Home Chapel, with Sister Rosemary Vaske officiating. Burial will be Friday, Nov. 29, in Mansfield, Ohio.

Deb was born April 29, 1954, in Mansfield, Ohio, to Thomas and Carol Etzwiler. She graduated from St. Peter's High School and received a bachelor's degree in sociology from Bluffton College in Ohio. She worked at the University of Illinois in Urbana as a secretary in the sociology and agriculture departments, and as the administrative secretary for the Faculty Senate. On Dec. 14, 1995, she married Douglas Lee Tschopp and moved to Ames. In Ames she was active in her church, public service and youth activities, ACTORS, and music organizations.

She is survived by her husband, Douglas, of the Iowa Veterans Home, and her mother-in-law, Dorothy Tschopp McGee, of Ames; her father, Thomas (Ruth) Etzwiler, of Mansfield, Ohio; her mother, Carol King, of Mansfield, Ohio; her brother, Lyle (Mary) Etzwiler, of Gaithersburg, Md.; and her stepsisters, Michelle and Cherie.

Memorials can be sent to the Iowa Veterans Home, 1301 Summit St., Marshalltown, IA, 50158, in her memory.
