Funeral Rites For Mrs. Cole To Be Tuesday

Mrs. Alice Catherine Belt Cole, 78, an early Iowa pioneer and resident here for 36 years, died at 3 a. m. Sunday at her home at 129 North Sheldon avenue. She had been in ill health for several years.

She was born July 24, 1857, on a farm on which the town of Oelwein was built. Her parents, Aaron and Sarah Belt, were early pioneers in Fayette county, Mrs. Belt coming from New York state and Mr. Belt from Ohio. Mrs. Cole was active in the affairs of the Collegiate Methodist church and Women's Christian Temperance union for years.

Surviving her are her husband, Albert Cole; two sons, Walter B. Cole, Kimberley, Nev., and Mark D. Cole, Dayton, O.; three daughters, Mrs. Clarence H. Ford, Oklahoma City. Okla.; Mrs. Ben Blanchard, 1118 Curtiss avenue, Ames, and Edith F. Cole, at home. Also a brother, Joseph Belt, Denver, Colo.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p. m. Tuesday from Adams chapel, with the Rev. Walter Barlow of the Collegiate Presbyterian church in charge. Burial will be in the Ames cemetery.
