NEWTON HILL, FORMER SLATER MAN, IS DEAD

SLATER - Newton Hill, 63, former Slater resident, died at his home in Melbourne, Ky., Wednesday following a cerebral hemorrhage. Born and reared in Story county, Mr. Hill had resided in Slater until about 20 years ago, when he moved to Kentucky.

Mr. Hill apparently was in good health Wednesday morning when he left the house to pick pecans. He suffered the stroke while at work and never regained consciousness.

Funeral services were held Thursday. Surviving are his wife, three sons, two stepdaughters, one brother, a half brother and four sisters. The brother is John Hill of Slater, the half brother, Arne Christopher of Slater and the sisters, Mrs. Severt Houge of Slater, Mrs. John Engstrom of Waterloo, Mrs. Julia Anderson of Minnesota and Mrs. A. C. Osmundson of Story City.
