MRS. BATES DIES AT HOME OF SON
Mrs. Betty Bates, 74, for 45 years a resident of Cambridge, died at 8 a. m. Saturday at the home of her son, Glen Bates, 317 South Second street, with whom she had lived the past four years. She had bedfast for six weeks with cancer.
She is survived by nine children, T. T, Bates, Des Moines; Glen, Kenneth and Clifford, all of Ames; Mrs. Homer Yeomans, Chicago; Mrs. Albert Weston, Audubon; Mrs. George Wood, Grimes; Mrs. J. M. Smith, Coon Rapids; Mrs. Fred Moore, Ames. Also one sister, Mrs. Mary Lemon, Ames; one brother, W. T. Harrison, Cambridge, and two half brothers, Vern Presnall, Cambridge, and Charles Shockley, Ames. All children, with the exception of the son in Des Moines, were at the bedside when Mrs. Bates died.
Funeral arrangements had not been completed at noon.
