THE STORY CITY HERALD, Story City, Story County, Iowa, Wednesday, October 15, 2008.

Milford "Miff" B. Romsey, 91, of Story City passed away Sunday, October 5, 2008 at Mary Greeley Medical Center in Ames, Iowa. Funeral services were held Wednesday, October 8th at 1:30 p.m. at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Story City. Burial followed in the Story City Municipal Cemetery. Visitation was on Tuesday, October 7th from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. with a prayer service at 6:30 at Bethany Manor Chapel in Story City.

Miff Romsey was born April 8, 1917 to John and Carrie (Berhow) Romsey on a farm near Randall, Iowa. He served in the United States Army for four years during World War II. Miff and Loraine Templer were married December 23, 1941. Miff farmed his entire career; planting, caring for, and harvesting a crop 42 years. He was a longtime member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Story City.

Miff was very active in the community serving as a 4-H Leader, on the Story County Beef Producers, Iowa Soybean Association Board, Elevator Board, Bank Board, Story County Extension Board, and was a member of the Sons of Norway and the American Legion. He cooked for many local events, decorated cakes for family and friends, and taught Norwegian in adult community education.

Survivors include his wife, Loraine; his son, Dennis (Sheila) Romsey; his daughter, Dianne (Terry) Wycoff; brothers, Ray (Alice) and LaVerne (Colleen) Romsey; his sister, Millie Olson; his sister-in-law Frankie Romsey; grandchildren Ian Romsey, Kaitlin Romsey, Christopher (Tara) Wycoff and Stephanie (Todd) Volz; and great-grandchildren Hailey, Kiley and Jenna.

Miff was preceded in death by his parents; his infant sister, Clara June Romsey; his brothers, Thomas and Joseph Romsey; and his sister, Sylvia Jones.

Memorials may be designated to Bethany Manor or Immanuel Lutheran Church.

Soderstrum Funeral Home in Story City was entrusted with the arrangements.
