May 9, 1938-Oct. 19, 2008

Karen May Baker, 70, of Nevada, died Sunday, Oct. 19, 2008, at Rolling Green Village in Nevada. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 22, at Bergen Lutheran Church in Roland, with burial to follow at the Roland Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 21, at Bergen Lutheran Church.

Karen May Baker was born May 9, 1938, in Kellerton, to Glen Thomas and Eula Jean (Carson) Bear. She married Ted Baker March 14, 1980. Karen was a member of Salem Lutheran Church in Roland and a member of the Roland American Legion Auxiliary. She enjoyed her grandkids and family, cooking and crocheting.

Karen is survived by her four children, Dion Baker, Lorrie (Eric) Hanson, Lisa Baker, and Brian (Kathy) Baker; her brothers and sisters, Shirley Chase, Don (Darlene) Bear, Beverly (Charles) Peterman, E. Jean Schriever, and Ted (Bryce) Bear; her daughter-in-law, Joni Lohman; 13 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren plus one on the way; and her longtime companion, Jerry Johnson.

Karen was preceded in death by her parents; her sister, Betty Jo Long; and brothers-in-law, Gary Baker and Lawrence Chase.

Memorials may be designated to the American Diabetes Association.

Soderstrum Funeral Home in Roland is handling the arrangements.
