Ronald Rasmussen began his new life on Friday, Oct. 10, 2008.

He was born Dec. 3, 1933, to Inez and Alan Rasmussen, in Goldfield, Iowa.

He married Regina Haas June 15, 1951. He was an active member of St. Cecilia Catholic Church. A Mass in celebration of Ron's life will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 14, at St. Cecilia Catholic Church, Ames.

Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday, Oct.13, with a vigil service at 7 p.m. at St. Cecilia Catholic Church.

He enjoyed the married spirituality of Teams of Our Lady movement and meeting all the members of the various communities. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, godfather and friend to all he met. He will be remembered for his great sense of humor. He was a graceful dancer and enjoyed square, round and ballroom dancing for many years. His hobby he loved was golfing.

He is survived by his wife, Regina; children, Peg, of Maryville, Mo., Pam (Steve Rosman), of Council Bluffs, Iowa, and Randy (Sharilyn), of Maui, Hawaii; grandchildren, Ryan (Nebraska), Erik (Maui), Nick (Missouri); and brothers, Robert (Bev), of Humboldt, Iowa, and Douglas (Linda), of Woodbridge, Va.

He was godfather to Christa Musser and Emma Greene.

He was preceded in death by two daughters, Vicky Ellen and Patricia Ann; and his parents.

Memorials may be directed to St. Cecilia Catholic Church or Israel Family Hospice House.

Stevens Memorial Chapel is assisting Ron's family.
