CLAUDIUS E. POTEE DIES AT ONTARIO

ONTARIO—Claudius J. Potee, 76 years old, a long time resident of this place, died Thursday morning at the home of a son, L. I. Potee of near Ames after a brief illness with erysipelas. Mr. Potee came from his home in Hollandale, Minn, about a month ago to visit friends and relatives in Ames and Ontario.

Funeral services will be held Saturday at 1 p. m. at the Duckworth funeral home in Ames and at 1:30 p. m. at the Ontario church, with the Rev. J. Sig Scone of the Ontario church and the Rev. Fred Sawyer of Bondurant in charge. At the grave in West Linwood cemetery at Boone, the Rev. S. E. Brown of Montrose, S. D., a brother-in-law of Mr. Potee will speak briefly.

Mr. Potee was born in 1854 in Madison county, Ohio, the son of Isaac and Elmira Potee. He was married in 1876 to Emma Lissa Brown of Zanesfield, O., who died 13 years ago. The family moved to Ontario 24 years ago. About four years ago, Mr Potee moved to Hollandale, but lived here last year.

He was a very active man, and had been in excellent health until his last illness. He was a birthright member of the Quaker church but was active in other churches in communities where no Quaker churches existed.

Mr. Potee is survived by three sons, Lindley of Ames, Oliver of Hollandale, and Fred of Mackey, one daughter Mrs. Flora P. Lowry of Hollandale, three sisters, Mrs. C. E. Morrell of Columbus, O., Mrs. Della Bradley of Landon, O., and Mrs. Anna Taylor of Willshire, O., and two brothers, Rell Potee of Bluffton, O., and Milton Potee of Great Falls, Mont.
