LONG-TIMES COLLINS RESIDENT DIES TUES.

Collins—Mrs. Jennie Bence, 58, long-time resident of Collins, died at her home here Tuesday evening about 6 o'clock following a stroke of apoplexy. Mrs. Bence suffered her first stroke Friday, November 7. She has been in a semiconscious condition during the past week.

She was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Elias W. and Elizabeth Shearer and was born May 4, 1872, on the old homestead about four miles east of Collins. On December 29, 1895, she was married to Elmer Bence and lived all her married life on a farm two miles northeast of Collins.

Mrs. Bence was a member of the United Brethren church and Collins chapter No. 134 of the Order of Eastern Star. She was active in community affairs until she suffered her first stroke.

Funeral services will he held from the United Brethren church here at 2 o'clock Friday afternoon. Interment will be made in the Evergreen cemetery.

She is survived by her husband and one daughter, Mrs. Sam Ozmun of Chicago. She also leaves two brothers and a sister, Charles of Cumberland, George of McCallsburg, and Mrs. Edith Stevens of Collins.
