Judy Vigness, 63, died Wednesday, Sept. 24, 2008, at Mary Greeley Medical Center in Ames, after a lengthy illness. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 27, at Bethany Lutheran Church in McCallsburg. Burial will be in Warren Township Cemetery in McCallsburg, followed by lunch in the Bethany Fellowship Hall.
Visitation with the family will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday, Sept. 26, at Bethany Lutheran Church in McCallsburg.
Judy was born Dec. 14, 1944, in San Diego, to Edson and Hazel (Haukoos) Murrell. She graduated from NESCO High School in 1962.
She married Stan Vigness on June 24, 1962.
She was a lifelong resident of the McCallsburg area. She worked with Stan on the farm. She also transported special needs students for the Colo-Nesco School District, a job she loved. She was a member of Bethany Lutheran Church.
She is survived by her husband of 46 years, Stan; one son, Brent (Cris), of Papillion, Neb.; one daughter, Brenda (Brian) Coldren, of Terre Haute, Ind.; four grandsons, Brady, Boyd and Bryce Vigness, and Owen Coldren; three sisters, Mildred (Bud) Ely, Marcia (Norm) Berrett, and Deb Greene (Roger); two brothers, Jerry Murrell and Roger (Donna) Murrell; one sister-in-law, Andrea (Duane) Byerly; many nieces and nephews; two aunts, Jane Taylor and Mildred Haukoos; and stepsisters-in-law, Lila (Darwin) Pollard and Verna Moore.
Preceding her in death were her parents and brother, Dean Murrell.
Fredregill Funeral Home in Zearing is in charge of arrangements.
