David L. Olson, 64, of Boone passed away early Friday morning, July 25, 2008 at Boone County Hospital. A memorial service was held Monday, July 28 at 2:00 p.m. at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Story City. Visitation with family was one hour prior the service.

David L. Olson was born January 16, 1944 to Magnus and Margaret (Borwick) Olson in Story City, Iowa. David was baptized at Bethel Lutheran Church and confirmed at Immanuel Lutheran Church. He graduated Story City High School in 1962. He married Shonnie Baker on December 28, 1962. He lived in Story, Boone, and Greene Counties throughout his life.

David worked at various grocery stores in Story City, 11 years at Pioneer Grocery, owned Dave's Foodland in Grand Junction, and later on worked at Cub's Foods in Ames.

David enjoyed fishing, the out doors, gardening, and loved to grill and was a very good cook. He was very proud Of his Norwegian heritage.

He is survived by two sisters, Deborah Olson of Story City and Kathy (Gaylen) Johnson of Grinnell; and one brother, Maynard Olson of Story City; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his son Mark Olson on October 8, 1987; and his sister-in-law, LaVonne Olson.

Memorials may be directed to Boone County Hospital.
