Edith Wilma Wierson-Swett, age 87, of Ames, died Friday, July 18, 2008 at Mary Greeley Medical Center in Ames. Services were held Monday, July 28 at at the First Assembly of God Church in Ames with Pastor Gary Pilcher officiating. Burial was in the Story Memorial Gardens Cemetery.

Edith was born in Kanawha, Iowa on May 29, 1921, to Werner Martin and Sarah (Egemo) Wierson. She resided in Ames most of her life: She graduated from Thompson's Cosmetology School in Des Moines in 1941.

On Jan. 8, 1945 she was united in marriage with Harold Swett. She was a member of Life Point and enjoyed church and her Siamese cat, Tasha.

Survivors include two sons, Byron (Rosa) of Slater, Raymond of Ames, and a daughter, Cheryl also of Ames; four grandchildren; eight great-grandchidren; two sisters, Vivian (Arnold) Moffitt of Kansas City, Missouri and Sherri Morrison of Lincoln, Nebraska; and two brothers, Archie Wierson and Dave (Janice) Wierson, all of Ames.

She was preceded in death by her husband; three brothers, Ward, Stanley and Eugene; four sisters, Sylvia, Marie, Genevieve and Idellys, and a grandson, Andrew.
