THE STORY CITY HERALD, Story City, Story County, Iowa, Wednesday, September 3, 2008.

It is with great sadness that our beloved Jim passed away peacefully with his family by his side at Bright Kavanaugh House in Des Moines, on August 24th, 2008. He is reunited with his son, Marty Von, parents Jack and Gert, and mother and father-in-law Aletha and Elmer who preceded him in death.

James Warren Toussaint was born March 27, 1937 in Des Moines to John (Jack) and Gertrude Toussaint. He attended school in Sheldahl, Polk City and graduated from Roland High School. Jim became involved with his childhood passion of electronics at a very young age. He started his first radio repair shop while still in high school. He majored in Electronic Engineering at Iowa State University in Ames, after which he joined the U.S. Army. Jim's 41 year career as owner and operator of Jim's Radio & TV in Ellsworth was a pleasure as he looked forward to his work with his tool pouch on his belt, serving the community with his electronic ability.

He married Shelby Jean Lancaster on Oct. 11, 1959 in Dows, Iowa. Jim was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend. He bravely battled the difficult disease of Parkinson's for many years overcoming many hurdles along the way.

Jim had many hobbies and interests. He designed and constructed model train layouts through the years, achieved his Ham Radio license with which he communicated all over the world. He became a private pilot and enjoyed many family vacation flights and air show conventions in OshKosh, Wisconsin. He also enjoyed fishing in Canada, bluegrass festivals, Texas winters in the Rio Grande Valley and experienced many enjoyable family trips. Jim loved being a dad, grandpa and enjoyed his son and grandchildren's talents as he attended their activities.

Jim was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church, Ellsworth Community Club, Ellsworth Volunteer Fire Department, Radcliffe Road Runner Flying Club and American Legion.

He will be dearly missed and remembered as one who always lent a helping hand to others sharing his knowledge and talents.

Cherishing his memories are his wife Shelby; son, Bradley and wife Kelly; grandson, Nicholas, granddaughter, Farin, brother, John and wife Janice.

In lieu of flowers a memorial in his name will be established.

Visitation was held at Soderstrum Funeral Home on August 27, 2008 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. There will be a private family service with Pastor Dean Baer of Holy Trinity Lutheran Church.
