NEVADA JOURNAL, Nevada, Story County, Iowa, Thursday, September 11, 2008.

LaVern E. "Ludy" Ludeman, 59, of Nevada, died on Wednesday, September 3, 2008 at the Rochester Methodist Hospital in Rochester, MN. Memorial services were held Monday, September 8 at the Memorial Lutheran Church with Pastor David Burling officiating. Burial, with military rites, followed in the Nevada Municipal Cemetery.

LaVern was born on November 19, 1948 in Jefferson, IA to Ernest and Violet (Finch) Ludeman. He was a 1967 graduate of Adair-Casey High School. Ludy served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. On June 10, 1978, he married
Shelley Sue Anderson in Nevada. Ludy was employed as the Water Plant Manager for the city of Nevada until his retirement in January of 2007. He was a member of the Memorial Lutheran Church in Nevada and the William F. Ball American Legion Post #48. Ludy enjoyed coin collecting, treasure hunting at auctions, growing tomatoes to share with family and friends, golfing, bowling, fishing, and deer hunting with his Menlo "brothers."

Ludy is survived by his wife, Shelley Ludeman of Nevada; his father, Ernie Ludeman, also of Nevada; a son, Keanan Ludeman of Des Moines; a daughter Kylie Ludeman and her fiancée Josh House of Grimes; 3 sisters, Betty (Greg) Toot of Nevada, Janet (Don) Konrad of Ault, CO and Diana Lewis of Ames.

Ludy was preceded in death by his mother, Vi on March 1, 1999, a half brother, Ron Gardner in 2007, and his grandparents.

Memorials may be directed to the Memorial Lutheran Church or a charity of your choice.

Chet Ryan Mortuary and Cremation Services was entrusted with Ludy and his family.
