Delbert Jones, of Ames, died Friday, Sept. 12, 2008, at Mercy Hospital in Des Moines. Adams Funeral Home and Cremation Service is assisting the family with arrangements.

Delbert M. Jones, 78, of Ames, died Friday, Sept. 12, 2008, in Des Moines. Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 17, at Adams Funeral Home and Cremation Service in Ames, with the Rev. Lynn Elrod officiating. Burial will be in Story Memorial Garden Cemetery in Ames.

Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 16, at Adams Funeral Home.

Delbert M. Jones was born April 21, 1930, in Des Moines, to Daniel and Ethel (James) Jones. He married Joyce Cox July 7, 1951. She was a truck driver.

He is survived by five sons, Steven (Susan) Jones, of Ames, Delbert "Champ" (Britt) Jones, of Roland, Ralph (Jodi) Jones, of Nevada, Gary (Teri) Jones, of Jewell, and Donnie (Lori) Jones, of Story City; one daughter, Kathy Jones, of Story City; one sister, Rosemary Collins, of Indianola; 20 grandchildren; and 21 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; five brothers, Daniel, Emmett, Donald, Daniel and David; and four sisters, Tillie, Margaret, Martha and Betty.
