AGED ZEARING MAN SUICIDES

Ambrose Johnston Is Found Hanging

ZEARING - Ambrose Johnston, 78, longtime resident of, the Zearing community and wealthy land owner and farmer, committed suicide at his home east of town early Saturday morning. Mr. Johnston got up with his son about 5 a. m. and went out.to the barn. When his son, John, went to call his father for breakfast he found his body suspended by a rope in the driveway of the double corn crib on the farm. Ill health was believed to have been the cause of the act coupled with melancholia brought on by brooding over the suicide of another Zearing resident by hanging recently.

Mr, Johnston lived on his old home place with his son, who operates the farm, and a housekeeper. The son is unmarried. Mr.
Johnston's wife died about 10 years ago.

No funeral arrangements have been made. The coroner was called
but it was doubtful whether or not an inquest would be held.

Three daughters and three sons survive. They are: John, Blayney. Ambrose jr., Mrs. John Brierly and Mrs. Robert Comfort of the Zearing community, and Mrs. Truitt of Idaho.

ZEARING - Funeral services for Ambrose Johnston were held Tuesday afternoon at his home three miles east of Zearing. Burial was in the Zearing cemetery.

The Rev. Mr. Murkhart of the Zearing Christian church was in charge of the services. Besides his six children a brother, Francis of Missouri and a sister in Oreland survive. A daughter, Mrs. Pruitt of Idaho and the brother, were here for the services.

Mr. Johnston committed suicide Saturday.
