CHRIS OMVIG, AGED STORY CITY MAN, DIES

STORY CITY - Chris Omvig, 84, pioneer resident of Story City died here Thursday and one of his wishes was fulfilled. His wife died March 12 and Mr. Omvig did not want to survive her. Both died of pneumonia alter a lifetime spent in the Story City community where they raised one daughter and seven sons.

Mr. Omvig took, sick with bronchitis a week ago Tuesday and gradually grew worse until pneumonia developed which ended in his death about 9:45 Thursday evening.

Funeral services will be held at the Emanuel Lutheran church here Monday afternoon at 2 o'clock following brief services at the home at l:30. The Rev. T. G. Helmark will be in charge. Burial will be in the Story City cemetery beside his wife. Mr. Omvig was the last of his family as all his brothers and sisters had preceded him in death.

Mr. Omvig was born in Kvindherre, Norway on April 12, 1845 coming to Illinois in 1861 with his parents. In 1869 be came to Story City where be lived on several farms in the vicinity until 1907 when he retired. Since 1907 Mr. Omvig has lived in Story City.

Surviving children include Mrs. John Soren of Clarion; Jens, Chris, Lars and Albert, all of Story City; Tom and Ole of Milo, N. D.; and Hans of Des Moines.
