Russell Dean Young, 52, of Grundy Center, died Friday, Aug. 29, 2008, at Cedar Valley Hospice Home in Waterloo. Memorial services will be at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 6, at United Methodist Church in Grundy Center. Pastor Matt Miller will officiate.

Russell was born Nov. 27, 1955, in Ames, the son of Donald and Lynn (Giannasi) Young. He was raised in the Ames area, graduating high school in 1972. He served his country in the U.S. Marine Corps during the Vietnam War. He worked at a variety of different jobs throughout his life.

He is survived by his stepchildren, Angie Terrones and Derek Terrones; one sister, Cheryl and her husband, Dan Olson, of Grundy Center; and one brother, Ron Young, of Fort Collins, Colo.; nieces and nephews, Mark Young, and his wife, Terri, of Hudson, Wis., Sean Olson and his wife, Michelle, of Omaha, Neb., Danae O'Malley and her husband, Dan, of Hudson, Ryan Olson, of Lubbock, Texas, Kyle Olson, of Naples, Fla., and Shauna Young, of Fort Collins, Colo.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Donald and Lynn Young.

Memorials may be directed to Cedar Valley Hospice.
