Mrs. Barr, 84, died Thursday

Mrs. Mattie Barr, 84, 623 20th St., died at her home Thursday afternoon.

Born Sept. 3, 1877 at Volga, she was married to W. T. Barr, Feb. 22, 1902, at Nevada. She has been a resident of Ames for 60 years.

She was a member oF St. Cecelia's Catholic Church, president of the Altar and Rosary Society, Catholic Daughters, and Mary Greeley Hospital Association.

Mrs. Barr was preceded in death by her husband in 1954.

Survivors include a son, Charles, of Ames; two daughters, Mrs. Mildred Gerbrach of Ames and Mrs. Florence Castonguay of Albuquerque, N. M.; five grandchildren and a brother, Henry Whitford of Ruthven.

Funeral services will be held from St. Cecelia's Church, Tuesday at 9:30 a.m. with the Rev. Fr. John Ryan officiating. Burial will be in the Catholic section of Ames Municipal Cemetery.

Rosary will be recited Sunday and Monday at 8 p.m. at the Stevens-Ross Funeral Home.
