AMES TRIBUNE, Ames, Story County, Iowa, Friday, August 15, 2008.

Elaine Dale Vinzant, 88, of Nevada, died Wednesday, Aug. 13, at Story County Long Term Care. Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday, Aug. 18, at Memorial Lutheran Church, 701 11th St., in Nevada, with Pastor David Burling officiating. Burial will be in Nevada Municipal Cemetery.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church.

Elaine was born Nov. 12, 1919, in South Lineville, Mo., to Jerry M. and Ada B. (Hartley) Lemons. She was a 1939 graduate of Linesville High School. She married Ivan Wendell Vinzant Aug. 4, 1940, in Princeton, Mo. She retired in 1981 from Donnelley Marketing. She was a member of Memorial Lutheran Church. She enjoyed fishing and loved being with her grandchildren.

She is survived by three sons, Larry Vinzant, of Scottsdale, Ariz., Dick (Amy) Vinzant, of Nevada, and Randy (Jodi) Vinzant, of LaVista, Neb.; two daughters, Bonnie (Leo) Dunahoo, of Story City, and Karen (Doug) Nugent, of San Jose, Calif.; two sisters, Gwendlyn Moss, of Sedalia, Mo., and Ethel (Lynn) Harris, of Nevada; 14 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Wendell, on March 10, 2001; an infant daughter, Judy; an infant brother, Ervin; five brothers, Harold, Ray, Wayne, Duane and Bill Lemons; and one sister, Maxine Eggland.

A memorial fund has been established in Elaine's name for Memorial Lutheran Church or Story County Long Term Care.
