Violet Severtson, 87, of Huxley, died Sunday, Aug. 10, at Madrid Home. Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 16, at Fjeldberg Lutheran Church in Huxley.

Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, Aug. 15, at Fjeldberg Lutheran Church.

Violet Severtson was born Sept. 3, 1920, on the family farm near Alcester in Union County, S.D., to Andrew and Anna Twedt. She married Merlin Severtson Sept. 29, 1937, in Elk Point, S.D. He preceded her in death in 2003.

She is survived by one daughter, Florence (Paul) Sandve, of Rosemount, Minn.; four granddaughters, Marcia (Peter) Staples, of Portland, Ore., Marlys (Peter) McDevitt, of Lakeville, Minn., Nikki Sandve, of Helena, Mont., and Noelle (August) Mecl, of Port Orchard, Wash.; four great-grandchildren, Ryell and Kamran Masood, of Portland Ore., and Anna and Krista McDevitt, of Lakeville Minn. one sister, Evelyn (Clifford) Thorson, of Phoenix, Ariz.; and many treasured nieces and nephews.

Soderstrum Riis Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
