Lois Maxine (Weir) Jay was born on Friday; June 29, 1924 in Colo; Story County, Iowa. She was the daughter of: Orville Albert and Nellie Pearl (Jones) Weir. Lois was a 1941 graduate of Colo High School and attended the State Teacher's College in Cedar Falls; Black Hawk County, Iowa. On Sunday; June 4, 1944, Lois married Lester Wilson Jay in Nevada; Story County, Iowa. She was a longtime employee of Donnelley Marketing of Nevada, Iowa. Lois was a member of the Colo United Methodist Church, American Legion Auxiliary and the Cloverleaf Club. She enjoyed bowling, card playing, reading, and being with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Lois Maxine (Weir) Jay, age 84, passed away on Wednesday; July 23, 2008 at the Story County Medical Center in Nevada, Iowa. Those left to mourn her passing are: Her three children: Dennis (Kim) Jay of Grand Island; Hall County, Nebraska, Dorothy (Fred) Cerka and Donna (John) Cerka, all of Colo, Iowa. Her eleven grandchildren and thirteen great grandchildren. Her two brothers: Harold (Fern) Weir of Iowa City; Johnson County, Iowa and Vern (Jan) Weir of Corpus Christi; Nueces County, Texas. Her sister: Edna Ward of Ankeny; Polk County, Iowa and her sister-in-law: Jean Ann Weir of Colo, Iowa. Lois was preceded in death by her parents, her husband: Lester on Monday; February 2, 1987, a granddaughter: Tina Jay, her brother: Ray Weir and her brother-in-law: Wilford Ward. May they rest in peace. Visitation will be from: 2:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. on Sunday; July 27, 2008 at the funeral home. Funeral services will begin at: 10:30 a.m. on Monday; July 28, 2008 at the Colo United Methodist Church. Interment will be in the Colo Cemetery in Colo, Iowa. A memorial fund has been established.
