Funeral services for the late Richard M. Atwood were held at the Mingo Methodist church last Thursday afternoon, in charge of the Rev. Mr. Faye, pastor of the Farrar Methodist church.

Pall bearers were grandsons of the deceased: Richard Baldwin, Junior Salmon, James Smith, Leroy Garland, Ralph Headly, Glen Landon. Honorary pall bearers were T. H. Morrison, William Morrison, William Hay, William Salmon, fred Geisler and Roy Davey.

Interment was in Collins Evergreen cemetery.

Among those from a distance in attendance at the funeral were Morris G. Atwood of Los Angeles and Mrs. Katherine A. Chandler of New York City.

Richard Marshall Atwood, son of Martha Stark Atwood and Captain Hosea W. Atwood, was born in Sycamore, Ill., Jan. 19, 1870, and departed this life May 15, 1939, age 69 years, 3 months and 27 days.

He leaves to mourn his passing his wife, Alpha Jones Atwood; two daughters, Mrs. Geo. Salmon of Perry, Ia. and Mrs. Wesley Baldwin of Mingo, Ia.; one son, Jeffrey Stark Atwood of Des Moines, and several grandchildren and great grandchildren. One son James preceded him in death in 1911. Four brothers: Stark of Collins, John of Des Moines, Morris of Los Angeles, Calif., and Harry of Evanston, Ill.; one sister, Katherine A. Chandler of New York City, and several nieces and nephews survive.

Deceased had been a resident of this locality for 57 years. During his illness of three years he bore his suffering with great patience.

His passing is keenly felt by a host of friends, and all extend heartfelt sympathy to the bereaved relatives.
