LOWELL ATWOOD OF COLLINS DIES FRIDAY

Lowell Atwood, 58 of Collins died in the Iowa Lutheran Hospital, late Friday afternoon. He had been a patient in the hospital for the past three weeks.

Mr. Atwood, who had farmed in Jasper County and also had been a state ASC officer in Des Moines, retired in 1965 as a Collins mail carrier, after serving for several years.

He was born in Collins, Jan. 14, 1907, and attended school there as well as State Teachers College of Iowa at Cedar Falls.

He was married Jan. 14, 1945 to Marjorie Harding of Colo. He was a member of the American Legion and the National Rural Letter Carriers Association. He attended the Collins Methodist Church and was preceded in death by his parents and one brother.

Funeral services were held at 2:00 P. M. Monday at the Collins Methodist Church with Rev. James Louk officiating with burial at the Evergreen Cemetery in Collins.

Lowell leaves a host of friends, and will be missed in this community.
