Death Of Leo H. Atwood
Leo H. Atwood, son of Morris G. and Grace Borts Atwood, grandson of the late Capt. and Mrs. Hosea W. Atwood, former residents of this community, passed away in Los Angeles, Calif., Feb.22, 1949, after being stricken with spinal meningitis.
He leaves to mourn his passing his wife, Helen Schulte Atwood; two little daughters, Susan and Linda; one little son, Gregory; his parents, and one brother, Gilford M. Atwood; many other relatives and a host of friends.
Leo was born near Collins, Iowa, Sept. 28, 1913. After graduating from high school, he moved with his parents to California, and was graduated from college in San Bernadino, after which he was connected with the Newberry stores, Inc., and for some years was manager of the large Newberry store on Wilshire Blvd., Los Angeles.
At an early age he affiliated with the Presbyterian church, of which he was a member when he passed away.
Leo was possessed of a jovial disposition, always having a kind word for all.
"His cheery voice, has been stilled, he has left a vacancy that can never be filled."
Services were held in Southgate, burial in Rosehill cemetery.
