MABEL A. ATKINSON

Mabel A. Atkinson, 91 of Ames, died Saturday, June 11, 1983 at the Mary Greeley Medical Center in Ames.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, June 15, at 1:30 p.m. at the First Christian Church Collins with Rev. Eldon Ringle officiating. Burial will be in the Collins Evergreen Cemetery.

Atkinson was born Feb. 15, 1892 in Maxwell. She, was married to Sidney Atkinson on July 4, 1910 in Nevada.

She worked at Mary Greeley Hospital for many years, and also cooked at the Adelante fraternity at Iowa State University for several years. She was a member of the First Christian Church of Collins and had been a resident of the North Grand Care Center for the past 2 1/2 years.

She is survived by three daughters, Doris Elliott of Ames, Midred Dahl of San Jose, Calif., and Ruth Huntrod of Collins; four sons, Dale of Des Moines, Earl and Carl, both of Waterloo and Lowell of Rockaway, N.J.; 22 grandchildren and 24 great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Sidney, her parents, one daughter and two sisters.

Visitation will be held Tuesday, June 14 from 5-9 p.m. at the Stevens Funeral Home in Ames. A prayer service will be held at 8 p.m. the same evening at the funeral home.
