Frank B. Ambrose, 94, of Nevada, died of pneumonia on Friday, April 12, at the Israel Family Hospice House in Ames.

He was born May 14, 1907, in Nevada to B.F. and Mame (Allen) Ambrose Sr. He was a 1925 graduate of Nevada High School and married Gertrude M. Sayles on April 13, 1940, in Fort Dodge. He had lived in Chicago, Davenport and Louisiana until they moved to Nevada in 1945. He practiced law until his retirement in 1986. Frank was a member of the First United Methodist Church and Nevada City Council, president of Nevada Community Club and Nevada Alumni. He had also served as City Attorney and mayor of Nevada. He enjoyed fishing and playing cards.

Survivors include his wife, Gertrude, of Nevada; three sons, Allen Ambrose of Hartford, Conn., Perry Ambrose (and Cas Rifkin) of Searcy, Ark., and Stuart Ambrose of Nevada; a daughter, Donna (and James) Cooper of London, Ohio; six grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren and one more on the way.

Frank is preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Allen and John Ambrose, and a sister, Doris Watson.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, April 16, at Chet Ryan Mortuary in Nevada with Pastor Steve Williams officiating. Burial will follow in the Nevada Municipal Cemetery. A memorial fund has been established.
