Caleb Paul Beckman, 5, of rural Boone, passed away Thursday, July 3. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, July 9, at Memorial Lutheran Church, 2228 Lincoln Way, in Ames. Pastor Mark Heilman will officiate. Visitation with the family present will be from 9 a.m. until the time of service at the church.

Visitation with the family present also will be from 1:30 to 3 p.m. Thursday, July 10, at Pauley-Jones Funeral Homes, Avoca Chapel, 1304 N. Sawmill Drive, Avoca. Graveside services with the burial will be at 3:30 p.m. Thursday, July 10, in Graceland Cemetery in Avoca, with Pastor Mark Heilman officiating.

Caleb was born Oct. 22, 2002, in Ames, the son of Steven Bradley and Paula Lynn (Nickles) Beckman. He attended preschool at United Community School.

He had a chocolate lab named CJ and a calico cat named Gemma. He enjoyed playing fetch with CJ and tackling her. He also enjoyed playing with his Hot Wheels cars and in his sandbox, coloring in his color books, playing with his Thomas the Tank Engine set, and watching his "Cars" and "Hot Wheels" videos.

He is survived by his parents, Steve and Paula Beckman, and his brother, Joshua Beckman, of rural Boone; his paternal grandparents, Doug and Jeanette Beckman, of Glenwood; his maternal grandparents, Don and Ginny Nickles, of Council Bluffs; and his uncles, aunts and cousins.

Memorials can be made to United Community School's PreK-5 PTO.

Walter-Schroeder Funeral Home at Fifth and Story streets in Boone is in charge of arrangements.
