Nov. 2, 1936-June 10, 2008

Robert Ray Kahler, 71, of Arizona City, died Tuesday, June 10, at Casa Grande Regional Medical Center. A burial service will be at a later date in Cambridge.

Robert Ray Kahler was born Nov. 2, 1936, in Iowa City to Ladye H. McKeever and Ernest F. Kahler. He loved birds and was a "fact" guy; his almanac was his "Bible." He was an avid reader, especially westerns, loved to fish and was a volunteer for the Cambridge Fire Department. He loved his family very much.

He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Judith L. Kahler; one son, Shawn M. Kahler, of Rockwall, Texas; one daughter, Shelly Lambert, of Boone; one brother, Russell Kahler, of Kimberling City, Mo.; five sisters, Anna Beal, of Cambridge, Helen V. Elliot, of Farmington, N.M., Dorothy H. Gardner, of Hopewell, Pa., Minnie E. Kahler, of Cambridge, and Ernestine Kaye Mullins, of Sacramento, Calif.; four grandchildren; and dozens of nieces, nephews, cousins and many, many friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; four brothers, Raymond "Bud" Kahler, Hamilton "Ham" Kahler, Walter "Wally" Kahler and Clifford "Skip" Kahler; and one sister, Elaine Rose Kahler.

The family has requested donations go to Arizona City Community Library, P.O. Box 118, Arizona City, AZ, 85223, the American Cancer Society or the Cambridge Fire Department.

Simes Mortuaries Casa Grande Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
