Ronald G. Nerem, 21, of Roland died Tuesday afternoon of electrocution while working on power lines.
A 1975 Roland-Story High School graduate, Nerem also attended area colleges at Ankeny and Fort Dodge, graduating from a law enforcement program at the Central Iowa Community College campus in Fort Dodge. He was a member of Bergen Lutheran Church, and served as a volunteer fireman, EMT and part-time policeman. He lived his entire life in Roland.
Nerem is survived by his parents, Edward and Rhoda (Hondard) Nerem, by two sisters, Ranae and Rebecca, both at home, a brother Ralph at home, paternal grandparents Mr. and Mrs. Ed Nerem, Sr. of Roland, maternal grandmother Mrs. Ida Hondard of Story City and a number of aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Funeral services have been scheduled for Friday, April 20 at 2:00 p.m. at the Bergen Lutheran Church in Roland with Rev. Howerd Lybeck and Rev. Everett Nelson officiating. Burial will be in the Sheffield Cemetery southeast of Story City.
Friends may call at the Soderstrum Funeral Home in Roland from Thursday until the time of services.
