Merrill H. Randau, 64, Story City, died Saturday morning, Feb. 9, at Mary Greeley Hospital, Ames.
The funeral will be Tuesday, Feb. 12, at 2 p.m. at Grace United Methodist Church, Story City. Rev. Duane O'Tool will officiate and burial will be in Center Cemetery, southwest of Story City.
Visitation is tonight from 7 - 8:30 p.m. at Soderstrum-Larson Funeral Home, Story City.
Mr. Randau was born Oct. 20, 1915 in Ames to Fred and Lila Randau. He was a graduate of Ames High School and attended Iowa State University.
On March 28, 1943, he married Norma M. Springman at Grace United Methodist Church in Story City.
He farmed in the Story City area all his life. Mr. Randau was a member of the Story County Extension Council, director of the Farmers Coop Grain Elevator, township clerk for Lafayette Township, a member of the Grace United Methodist Church and the church's Homebuilders Class, a member of the Owl Country Club in Story City, a member of the Story County Producers Board and Democratic chairman for Lafayette Township.
He is survived by his wife, Norma; five daughters, Sharon Hilleman of Sergant Bluffs, Ia., Patricia Christensen of New Providence, Cynthia Randau of Ames, Kathy Twedt of Story City, and Mary Lou Randau who is attending Northwest Missouri State University in Maryville, Mo.,three grandchildren, Christie, Heidi and Scott Hilleman; his mother, Lila Randau, of Riverside Manor, Ames; one sister, Mrs. Gladys Ott of Cincinnati, Ohio, and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father, Fred Randau, in July 1962.
