Romayne Locwood Halsted, 77, of rural Hubbard, died Wedneseay, Jan. 21, 1981 at the Manatee Memorial Hospital, Bradenton, Fla.
He was born Jan. 25, 1903 in Strawberry Point, Iowa, the son of William and Martha Hamlett Halsted. He was a 1921 graduate of Strawberry Point High School and attended Iowa State University. On April 6, 1923 he married Ella Wax.
Mr. Halsted was a farmer in the McCallsburg area. He was a member of the United Presbyterian Church of McCallsburg and was a past master of the Colo Masonic Lodge.
He is survived by his wife, Ella; two sons, Frank of Albuquerque, N.M. and Irven of Zearing; two daughters, Imogene Thompson of Nevada and Dorathy Twedt of McCallsburg; 17 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, four grandchildren; and one brother Orville Halsted, in 1940.
Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m.Saturday, Jan. 24 at the Ryan Funeral Home, Nevada, with Rev. Thomas Pickles officiating. Burial will follow in the Nevada Cemetery.
Friends may call at the Ryan Funeral Home, Nevada, beginning Friday.
