The death of Mrs. Margaret Sowers, wife of G. W. Sowers, occurred last Thursday at twelve m. Funeral services were conducted at her late home at eleven a.m., Jan 11. Rev. C. L. Nye of the M. E. church officiating. Mrs. Sowers had been a sufferer for a number of years from a tumor but had not been confined to her bed recently and had gotten up the morning of her death.
Margaret Sours, daughter of Philip and Saran Sours, was born in Salem, N. C., Oct. 17, 1832, and died in the city Jan. 9, 1902. She was married to George W. Sowers in Fountain Co., Indiana, Nov. 21, 1858, and came immediately to Story Co., Iowa. They settled first in Fairview now Story City where they lived until 1864, when they moved to Pleasant Grove, Milford township, where they lived until the spring of 1893, when they moved to this city where they have since resided. There are five children, Charles W. of Nevada, E. E. and Delbert of Ames, Mrs. W. S. Hughes, of Kelley, and Mrs. G. K. Young of this county.
Mrs. Frank Rich of this city was an adopted daughter who had shared in the love and affection that Mrs. Sowers had always given to her own children. Mrs. Sowers had been a member of the Methodist church since 1858. The sympathy of the community is extended to the bereaved family.---from an Ames newspaper
