Feb. 14, 1927-May 29, 2008

Rosalee May (Nivens) Dideriksen, 81, died Thursday, May 29, at Bethany Life Communities in Story City. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday, June 1, at Walker-Merrick Funeral Home in Clarinda, with interment at Memory Cemetery in New Market. A visitation will be held one hour prior to the service.

Rosalee May (Nivens) Dideriksen was born Feb. 14, 1927, at Pleasanton, to David Alva Nivens and Delma Viletha (LaFollette) Nivens. She grew up in the Shenandoah area, graduating from Shenandoah High School. On Nov. 11, 1945, she married Raymond Ivan Dideriksen. They had two sons, Richard and David. She worked as a census taker for U.S. Census in Essex, an accountant for Tipton's Drug Store in Nevada, an office manager at Johnson Control in Indianapolis, Ind., an office manager for a medical supply company in Fairfax, Va., and as the president of the Widowed Persons Association in Maryville, Mo. She had a great love for travel and the outdoors. She had a fascination for all that nature offered However, she found the most joy in being a homemaker and mother to her two sons.

Rosalee is survived by her son, Richard and wife, Teme Levbarg, of Durham, N.C., and his children, Michelle and her husband, Lexton Raleigh, of Dayton, Ohio, Christina Dideriksen, of New York City, Katrina Dideriksen, of New York City, and Rebecca Reice, of Los Angeles, Calif.; son, David and wife, Malerie Dideriksen, of Ames, their children, Allison Holm, of Ames, and Culley and wife, Traci Holm, of Humboldt; and great-grandchildren, Carter, Hayden and Lillian Holm, of Humboldt.

She was preceded by her parents; husband, Raymond Ivan Dideriksen; and stepbrother, Maurice LaFollette.

She will be missed greatly by her family and friends.

A memorial fund is established in Rosalee's name.

Walker-Merrick Funeral Home of Clarinda is in charge of arrangements.
