THE AMES TRIBUNE, Ames, Story County, Iowa, Friday, May 30, 2008.

Aug. 27, 1927-May 28, 2008

Marion D. Vogt, 80, of Nevada, passed to his heavenly home Wednesday, May 28, at Israel Family Hospice House in Ames. Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday, June 2, at Bacon Funeral Home in Nevada, with Pastor Steve Williams officiating. Burial will be in Nevada Municipal Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 3 to 5 p.m. Sunday, June 1, at Bacon Funeral Home.

Marion D. Vogt was born Aug. 27, 1927, near Ames, the son of Bert and Mary (Shearer) Vogt. He served in the Signal Corps of the U.S. Army. He retired from the Iowa Department of Transportation in 1989 after 33 years of service. He found great joy in his yard and flower garden. He loved the outdoors and all of its splendor.

He is survived by one sister, Delores "Dee" (Dick) Herrity, of Clinton; and one brother, Thelbert Vogt, of Ankeny.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Bacon Funeral Home and Crematory is in charge of arrangements.
