George James Perkovich, 60, of Ames, died Sunday, May 4. The body was cremated, and visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday, May 8, at Stevens Memorial Chapel in Ames. Inurnment will be at a later date in Boone Memorial Gardens.
George James Perkovich was born Nov. 14, 1947, in Boone, to E. Annabelle Freel and Anton Perkovich. He graduated from Ames High School in 1965.
He married Diana Stockton in 1967, and to this union two children were born, Carie Hasselman, of Kelley, and Christine Perkovich.
He married Cecilia Hadaway in 1979, and to this union two children were born, Becky Perkovich and Stacy (Dustin) Miller, all of Ames.
He served four years in the Iowa National Guard and was an auto/diesel tractor mechanic for more than 40 years.
He is survived by three daughters; one brother, Frank Perkovich, of Boone; and two grandchildren, Rachel Hasselman, and Antonia (Robert) Koenigsdorf and their daughter, McKenna.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his stepfather, Wesley Freel; one daughter, Christine; and one sister-in-law, Janice Perkovich.
