Jan. 11, 1927-April 21, 2008

Helen Coe, 81, died Monday, April 21, in Ames. She requested to be cremated. An inurnment of her remains will be at a later date in Graceland Cemetery in Sioux City.

Helen Coe was born Jan. 11, 1927, in Sioux City, to Shreve S. and Myrtle (Hughes) Coe. She attended Sioux City Schools and graduated from Carleton College in Northfield, Minn. Her adult years were spent as an educator in Sioux City, Heartland AEA and Roosevelt and Meeker schools in Ames. She also taught in the Child Development Department at Iowa State University and served as K-12 language arts coordinator in the Ames Community Schools.

She was a member of Collegiate Presbyterian Church and Chapter IV of P.E.O.

She is survived by one sister, Doris Adams, of Sioux City, and nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents and one sister, Janet Fleetwood.

Memorials may be made to Ames Public Library or the Performing Arts Fund at C.Y. Stephens Auditorium, Iowa State University.
