Shirley Ratashak, 71, formerly of Ames, died Thursday, March 20. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday, March 24, with funeral services at 11 a.m. Tuesday, March 25, both at Stevens Memorial Chapel.

Shirley L. Ratashak, 71, of Cedar Rapids and formerly of Ames, died Thursday, March 20, at Willow Gardens Care Center in Marion. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, March 25, at Stevens Memorial Chapel, Ames. Burial will be in Ames Municipal Cemetery.Shirley Ratashak was born Feb. 13, 1937 in Atlantic, to Willard and Marjorie (Heath) Knight. She graduated from Atlantic High School in 1955. She married George M. Ratashak in June 1956. They later divorced.
She had been employed as a bookkeeper and also a machine operator at 3M for 14 years. She loved to spend time with her family, especially her grandbabies.
She is survived by one son, Rob (LouAnn) Ratashak, of Ames; one daughter, Rhonda (Todd) Kibsgaard, of Marion; one granddaughter, Robyn Kibsgaard; one grandson, Jerrad Kibsgaard; four sisters, Marjorie (Bill) Walzer, of Perry, Gloria (Pat) Strang, of Elko, Nev., Ruth (Jim) Norton, of Altoona, and JoBeth (Dan) Chittenden, of Colorado Springs, Colo.; two brothers, Willard Knight, of Des Moines, and David (Nancy) Knight, of Ames; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; one son, Jergan; three sisters, Sharon James, Joyce Wolfe and Linda Wood; and her former husband.
A visitation will be from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Monday, March 24, at Stevens Memorial Chapel, Ames.
