Barbara Strike, 79, of Ames, died Monday, March 17, at Mary Greeley Medical Center. Services are pending with Stevens Memorial Chapel and Cremation Services.

Barbara Strike, 79, of Ames, died Monday, March 17, at Mary Greeley Medical Center. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to noon Friday, March 21, at Calvary United Methodist Church, 24th Street and Hoover Avenue, in Ames, followed by a luncheon at noon and the funeral service at 1 p.m., with Pastor Lynn Elrod officiating. Burial will be in Rose Hill Memorial Gardens in Marshalltown.

Barbara Strike was born May 15, 1928, in Baxter, to Frank and Gladys (Jefferies) Hamilton. She married Robert Strike May 2, 1948, in Ferguson. She was a member of Calvary United Methodist Church.

She is survived by two sons, Dr. Lowell (Kimi) Strike, of Fort Worth, Texas, and James (Cheryl) Strike, of Ellisville, Mo.; one daughter, Jill Moore, of Ames; six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband in 2001; and one brother, Dale Hamilton.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Alzheimer's Association.

Stevens Memorial Chapel is assisting the family.
