Ferne Danger, 95, died Sunday, March 16, at Bethany Manor in Story City. Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday, March 21, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Ellsworth. Burial will be in Homewood Cemetery in Ellsworth. Friends may call from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Thursday, March 20, at Bethany Manor Chapel.

Ferne Margaret Johnson was born March 29, 1912, in Ellsworth, to George and Etta (Williamson) Johnson. She graduated from Ellsworth High School in 1930. She married Clarence Danger Dec. 9, 1933, at the parsonage in Iowa Falls. She was a lifelong resident of the Ellsworth community and member of Trinity Lutheran Church, where she was a Sunday school teacher, Luther League sponsor, custodian and member of the ladies aide.

She was a cook for South Hamilton schools for many years and also a cook for Riverside Bible Camp.

She is survived by one son, David (Pam) Danger, of Garden City; one daughter, Cristie (Tom) Berger, of Story City; two daughters-in-law, Joan Danger, of Benson, N.C., and Pat Danger, of Story City; 13 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and her sister, Dorothy Cole, of Texas.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Clarence in 1988; two sons, Bill in 1999 and Richard in 2006; two brothers; and three sisters.

Becker Funeral and Cremation Service of Jewell is in charge of arrangements.
