THE AMES TRIBUNE, Ames, Story County, Iowa, Thursday, February 21, 2008.

Sept. 26, 1952-Feb. 18, 2008

Chris David Willadsen, 55, of West Des Moines, died suddenly Monday, Feb. 18, at his workplace. Eucharistic services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 23, at St. Timothy's Episcopal Church, 24th Street and Ashworth Road, in West Des Moines, with the Rev. Mary Cole-Duvall officiating.

The family will receive friends from 4 to 7 p.m. today at the church.

Chris David Willadsen was born Sept. 26, 1952, in Storm Lake, the youngest of three sons born to William and Doris (Kepler) Willadsen. He moved with his family to West Des Moines in 1955 and was a West Des Moines resident for the rest of his life.

He graduated from Valley High School in 1970 and attended Des Moines Area Community College and Northwest Missouri State University. He was employed with MC Advantages of Grimes. He was an active member of St. Timothy's Church, where he served as a youth mentor and offering counter. His generous spirit and humorous ways were well known. He enjoyed leading youth group events and playing outfield for the Saints softball team. A wonderful example of God's love at work in the world, he was always willing to lend a helping hand wherever he could. He was a loving son, brother and father. His devotion to his family and friends set him apart and endeared him to those who knew him. His love for his parents and brothers was only exceeded by that for his two sons. He was so proud of "my two boys," and dedicated his life to their well-being. No man could ask for a better testament to a life well lead. He loved annual trips to the NCAA wrestling championships with his brothers and father. But above all else, he enjoyed games, activities and just "goofing around" with his sons.

He will be missed by his parents; two sons, David and Daniel, and their mother, Michelle; two brothers, Rick (Kathie) and Dennis (Ellen); niece, Amy (Greg) Bocken and their children, Mathew, Patrick and Connor; niece, Lisa (Joe) Lalisan and their children, Melissa and Joshua; and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.

In lieu of flowers, memorials contributions will be used for a scholarship fund for his boys or can be made to The Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation.
