THE AMES TRIBUNE, Ames, Story County, Iowa, Wednesday, February 6, 2008.

Oct. 9, 1931-Feb. 4, 2008

Ernest Edward Strausbaugh, 76, of Ames, died Monday, Feb. 4, at Mary Greeley Medical Center. Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday, Feb. 8, at Adams Funeral Home. Burial will be in Story Memorial Garden Cemetery in Ames.

Visitation will be from 4 to 6 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 7, at Adams Funeral Home.

Ernest Edward Strausbaugh was born Oct. 9, 1931, in Boone, to Edward and Anis (Bolen) Strausbaugh. He served in the U.S. Army from 1952 to 1960, attaining the rank of corporal. He was a Korean War vet who received several commendations including the Korean Service Medal with three bronze service stars.

He was a retired farmer and enjoyed attending auctions, drinking coffee in the evenings at Hy-Vee and tractors. He was "quite the handyman" and "quite a packrat."

He is survived by one daughter, Terri Pattison, of Ames; one grandson, John Ernest (Jill Harris) Pattison, of Boone; and special friend, Mildred Marriott.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Emogene Osbourne.
