Lyle F. Clark, age 90, of York, Nebraska, died Wednesday, Nov. 22, 2006 at the Grand Island Veterans Home in Grand Island, Nebrasaka.

Lyle Clark was born March 20, 1916 at Beaver Crossing, Nebraska to John J. and Margaret (Geiger) Clark. He was united in marriage to Agnes Cahill on April 22, 1942 at Lincoln, Nebraska. Lyle was a graduate of McCool Jct. High School and farmed for three years following graduation. He attended UNL for several years before enlisting in the U.S. Navy where he was a naval fighter pilot. While serving in the Pacific aboard the USS Yorktown, he was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross. Following his military service Lyle returned to UNL and graduated from the College of Agriculture. After college he farmed for an additional eight years. Until his retirement in July of 1983, he worked in poultry management including: seven years for Ames-In-Cross in Roland, the Fremont Hatchery for eight years, and at Wagner Mills in Schuyler, Nebraska for eleven years. Lyle was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church in York.

He is survived by two sons: James Clark and his wife Linda of Fishtail, Montana and Robert Clark and his wife Laurie of Grand Island, Nebraska; daughter Kathleen Knous and her husband Joe of Story City; eight grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, son Thomas and brothers Maurice and Jerome.

A Mass of Christian Burial was held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, Nov. 25, 2006 at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in York with Father Mark Tasler officiating. Interment followed at St. Joseph's Cemetery in York. A Rosary service was held Friday, Nov. 24 at 7:30 p.m. at the mortuary.
