Twyla Marie Watson, 87, of Story City died Nov. 20, 2006 at Israel Family Hospice House in Ames. Memorial services were held Friday Nov. 24, 2006 at 11:00 a.m. at Bethany Manor Chapel in Story City.

Twyla was born Dec. 16, 1918 in Powersville, Missouri to Guy G. and Ophelia M. (Carter) Robertson. She attended Putnam County school. She married Harley Ellwood Watson on Dec. 24, 1937. He died Nov. 24, 1995. She lived most of her life in Story City and Ames. She was a member of Grace United Methodist Church, where she was active in UMW and Homebuilders. She was a member of the Owl Country Club and enjoyed gardening.

She is survived by three daughters, Katherine Sowers (Jerry) of Story City, Karen Doubleday (Dick) of Stuart, Iowa, and Barbara Fremming (David) of Ankeny; a son, Ronald Watson (Terri) of Plano, Texas; 12 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren.

Twyla was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, H. Ellwood Watson; a sister, Vera Lee Moore and a brother, James Robertson.

The family will received friends an hour before the service. Memorials may be made to Bethany Life Communities or Israel Family Hospice House. Soderstrum Funeral Home is entrusted with arrangements.
