Roger G. Swenson, 63, of Jewell, passed away Tuesday, Jan. 23, 2007 at Stratford Care Center in Stratford, Iowa. Funeral services were held Friday, Jan. 26, 2007 at 2:00 p.m. at Harvest Evangelical Free Church in Story City. Burial followed the service at St. Paul's Lutheran Church Cemetery in rural Jewell. Visitation was Thursday, Jan. 25, 2007 from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. at. Soderstrum Funeral Home in Story City.

Roger G. Swenson was born June 20, 1943 to Reuben T. and Signe (Iverson) Swenson in Ames, Iowa. He was baptized at Elim Lutheran Church in Randall and confirmed at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in rural Jewell. He attended Harvest Evangelical Free Church in Story City.

Roger graduated from Randall High School in 1961 and married Doris Stahl on December 3, 1965 in Wellsburg, Iowa. Roger farmed and was a lifetime resident of the rural Jewell area. He liked to collect trains, attend car races, and his Corvettes. Roger always enjoyed time spent with his kids and grandkids.

Survivors include his wife Doris Swenson, of rural Jewell; his mother, Signe Swenson of Story City; three sons, James (Kerra) Swenson of rural Jewell, Bryan (Brenda) Swenson of rural Jewell, and Eric (Kristi) Swenson of Minneapolis, Minnesota; one daughter, Kathy (Dean) Martensen of Jewell; one sister, Rhonda Keller of Mansfield, Pennsylvania; and five grandchildren, Cassie, Trevor, Jenna, Jessie, and Cody.

Roger was preceded in death by his father, Reuben; and a grandson, Ike.

A memorial has been established in his name.
