Evelyn Iverson, age 85, formerly of Ellsworth, died Saturday, Jan. 20, 2007 at Bethany Manor in Story City. Funeral services were held Tuesday, Jan. 23, 2007 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Ellsworth with burial following in the Homeward Cemetery in Ellsworth. Visitation was Monday, Jan. 22, 2007 from 5 to 8 p.m.

Evelyn Gene Wierson was born April 25, 1921 to Eamel and Gertie (Amundson) Wierson on a farm in Scott Township, Hamilton County, Iowa.

She attended country school near Radcliffe, and was a 1939 graduate of Radcliffe High School. While growing up, Evelyn was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith in Radcliffe.

Evelyn met Wallace Iverson at the Iowa State Fair and they were married March 24, 1940. In 1941, Evelyn transferred membership to Trinity Lutheran Church in Ellsworth. She and Wallace
enjoyed 60 years together on their farm at 3580 Vail Avenue near Ellsworth. Evelyn and Wally moved to Bethany Manor in Story City where Evelyn lived for almost six years. She and Wally were avid sports fans. They frequently attended sporting events at Randall, South Hamilton and Iowa State University. Evelyn was an excellent seamstress and she enjoyed attending auctions and refinishing antique furniture. She was a charter member of the Ellsworth Women's Advance Club, a 4-H leader and an active volunteer in her church and home community. Evelyn will be remembered for her marvelous sense of humor.

She is survived by her children, Kay Lynn and husband Don Boldra of Marshalltown, David and his wife Linda Iverson of Luverne, Minnesota, Karen and her husband James Nelson of Story City; eight grandchildren, Todd and his wife Ellen Iverson of Northfield, Minnesota, Jeffrey and his wife Jill Nelson of Omaha, Nebraska, Jayson and his wife Jennifer Nelson of Kirkland, Washington, Heather (Iverson) and her husband Brian Schoenberger of Eden Prairie, Minnesota, Amanda (Boldra) and her husband Chad Whaley of Dubuque, Iowa, Jonathan and his wife Karen Nelson of Madison, Wisconsin, April Nelson of Bellevue, Washington, and Nicole Boldra of Marshalltown; eight great-grandchildren, Ian and Emma Iverson, Henrik and Ingrid Nelson, Synneva and Torsten Nelson, Lauren and Matthew Whaley; and her sister-in-law Ruth Swenson of Story City.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Wallace Oliver Iverson on Jan. 17, 2004, her parents, Eamel and Gertie Wierson, her sister, Hazel Lettow Skeie, and her grandparents, Severt Olaus and Tilla (Williamson) Wierson and Alex and Gurina (Oine) Amundson.
